SumoSam Gateway Grand Opening

SumoSam opened yesterday its 11th branch in Gateway Mall Cubao. This restaurant company is in the business for 2 years now and has been expanding rapidly. Owned by actor/endorser/chef Marvin Agustin. Sumosam is a fine dining sit-down restaurant that offers big servings of Japanese cuisine. In correlation to the event, it was covered by the traditional media and food bloggers were also invited as well.

The interior decorations of the restaurant is modern and contemporary but the colors are mostly red and black which are my favorite colors.

Each one of us were served with our choice of drinks either Red Iced Tea or Green Iced Tea. Majority of the food bloggers has chosen Red Ice Tea. Red is for fearless :)
The event started with a short talk from the restaurateur Marvin Agustin. Wherein he has discussed the short history and development of his business. As part of the grand opening in most events there are ribbon-cutting but in SumoSam it was sushi-cutting which is the highlight of the event  :)
After the sushi-cutting, we have proceeded to our lunch since almost everyone is starting to get hungry especially myself that I didn't eat breakfast. As a start, from appetizers to main dishes and desserts, it was served to us in chronological order as it should be.

Hot Prawn Salad is a cold salad with lettuce icebergs, fried prawns, mango balls, walnuts and topped with Asian salad dressing. It has a sweet and spicy taste that we love.

Spicy Tuna Salad has fresh tuna bits, lettuce icebergs, croutons and Thousand Island dressing. This salad was spicy but not really interesting.

Yakisoba is a famous Japanese stir-fried noodles with beef strips and vegetables.
We love this noodle dish :)

Sashimi Platter  was served with slices of raw Tuna and Pink Salmon with lemon and wasabi on the side. My sisters are not a fan of raw fish but for the first time they have appreciated it. Its one of the favorites from the group.

Japanese Fried Rice served in a big bowl that's good for 3-4 persons depending on their appetite. Most of us didn't eat rice since there are other dishes to be served to us.

Ebi Tempura is made from Tiger Prawns cooked with batter and bread crumbs served with tempura sauce on the side as a dip. My sister's favorite :)

Vegetable Tempura this is good for vegans and to those whom are allergic to seafood.

Chicken Teriyaki made from boneless chicken breast and cooked into perfection. Served with a sweet and tangy sauce, topped with sesame seeds and leeks. Even I'm allergic to chicken, I couldn't resist myself but to taste this dish and I have no regrets :)

Pork Gyoza also our favorite so after our group we consumed this, I took more of this since I haven't eat yet and its already gone.

Assorted Sushi: California Maki, Dynamite Roll and Tuna Sushi

My sister Cathy and her boyfriend Alfred during lunch at the grand opening event.

Beef Yakiniku was served to us a little bit late when everybody was almost full so this dish wasn't really consumed at all but that's okay since I have the chance to take it home.

The last but not the least, the Fresh Fruit Platter was served to us as our desserts. It was handcrafted into beautiful carvings from oranges, ripe mangoes, bananas, red apples, watermelon and grapes.

SumoSam also have gift certificates that you can give as a gift to your family and friends especially if they are into Japanese food.
This was our first time in SumoSam and our experience was great. The food and service were excellent. We will certainly go back and dine in SumoSam in the near future.

SumoSam also has other branches in these locations: Shangri-La, Marquee, TriNoma,  Solenad 2 Nuvali, Greenbelt 3, Abreeza Davao, Ayala Center Cebu, Gateway Mall, SM Megamall, Rockwell, Granada, Subic Harbor Point
