Public Relations Society of the Philippines: 19th National PR Congress

PRSP tackles disruptive social media issues in PR Congress

The social and digital media revolution has brought about an Age of Disruption that calls for changes in the way that business and organizations can best respond to influence the consumer mind.

The ardent and power of connection technologies have given people tools that connect them to vast amounts of information and to one another. Disruptive influencers such as facebook, twitter, blogs, flashmobs and mobile technology, create tremendous opportunities for brands or governments to create a new competitive mindshift for more effective customer of citizen engagement.

The Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) organized the 19th National PR Congress with the theme: PR 360: Responding in the Age of Disruption which has lined up topics that will assist PR and communications professionalsin achieving the required shifts in mindsets and formulating the relevant PR management practices that will make social media work best for them, while building on the gains of traditional media.

With advanced metrics, a company can now directly observe hundreds of social signals "swimming in the sea of unstructured consumer information through social networks" giving rise to citizen journalism. Every act and behavior of companies is being watched, commented upon and written about by the social netizens, demanding on PR a faster and more emphathetic sensitivity to develop and give the appropriate responses. With social media, a company is not just talking to consumers and competitors but engages in two-way communication as their response is played back real time.

PR Congress Chair Malou L. Espina said a panel of international and local speakers will assist Congress delegates map out their responses within the new media industries as they answer questions on such topics as Who are the Media Today?, Walk the Line: Has Ethical Practice Changed Today with the Change in Influencers? and Integrating Communications Amidst the Disruption.

Among the confirmed speakers are: John Miller of Nestle' Philippines; Cameron Buckley of Sentia Media; Leah Besa-Jimenez of Netbooster Asia; Eddie Lau of Brandtology; Inday Varona of Bayan Mo, Patrol Mo;  Millie Dizon of SM Malls; Paul John Pena of Leo Burnett Worldwide; and Atty. Michael Toledo of Philex Mining, to name a few.

Presented by Philex Mining Corporation together with San Miguel Corporation and Ortigas & Company Limited Partnership Inc., the 19th National PR Congress will be held on September 27-28, 2012 at the InterContinental Manila in Makati City, September being the National Public Relations Month. Silka: What's Your Skin Type?

I received an email a few days ago about SILKA PROMO NOTIFICATION.
I was surprised and happy when I read it because I was not expecting that I will win in the raffle contest after answering their What's Your Skin Type Quiz in Silka's facebook fan page.
I didn't purchase anything to enter the raffle promo.

I like joining online raffle and competition except those whom are using Rafflecopter.
For some reaons, I hate using Rafflecopter and I don't like to going back into it eveyday just to earn points. I like the Submit and forget process. That makes me win more.
Great things come when you least expect it :)

I won P1,000.00 money plus a Silka gift pack. Wow!
There were other winners as well of the raffle promo and I am just one of them.
My friends said that I'm really lucky when it comes to winning raffle and promo contests.
I think they're right because ever since I was a kid, most of the time I win but there are also other times I don't win.  That's fine so that I can give chance to others. It's not nice to be selfish, right? A week ago, I claimed my other prizes: a new HTC Desire C phone from HTC Philippines and an original DVD of The Vow Movie from www.Clickthecity.com

Here's the picture of what I've got from my Silka Gift Pack:

2 Silka Papaya Soaps
1 Silka Facial Cleanser
1 Silka Citrus Skin Energizer
1 Silka Papaya Whitening Pearl Cream
1 Silka Papaya Whitening Roll-on Deodorant

1 Silka Papaya Premium Whitening Body Wash

1 Silka Papaya Whitening Lotion with SPF6
1 Juicy Cologne
1 Define Styling Gel

1 Protect Hand Sanitizer Gel

Thank you so much Silka! :)

SEX CHANGE: Affordable Sex Change anyone?

A friend of mine who's working in Thailand now has shared this photo on facebook. It came from the headline of Bangkok Post newspaper. When I saw the photo, I don't know how to react, if I should laugh or what.

Thailand has been hailed as the surgery capital in the world. Most Thai men are converted into tranvestites (or what they popularly call as ladyboys). I have been in Thailand once in 2007 and 2008. I can conclude that most ladyboys are prettier than the real Thai women but you can still distinguish the voice of the speaker if it is a real woman or not.
Other forms of surgery like tummy tuck (liposuction) and boob job (breast enlargement) are also affordable in the same time in Thailand compared here in the Philippines.

Orchiectomy (Vasectomy)  is the surgical removal of one or both testicles, or testes, in the human male. Most patrons of this surgery are the westerners. I don't think Filipino men will undergo this kind of operation since most Filipino men find themselves as macho.

Most people, men or women, young and old... has a lot of insecurities with themselves.           I admit that I'm one of them. However, I am still happy with what God gave me. I have find beauty in my own flaws and I will never get any kind of surgery just to make myself beautiful. Everything has a price to pay, I don't want to suffer any consequences in the future just because of it.  Affordable sex change anyone?

DFA NCR: New Passport Office Coming Soon

I was passing through SM Megamall yesterday after attending the Blogging: The Formula for Success Seminar when suddenly I saw this big sign at the wall near the Supermarket.

The DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) is going to have a new satellite office for passport processing at the new building of SM Megamall which is going to be located on the East Wing of the 7th floor at the SM Megamall Building C.

This mean that the DFA will be able to process more passport applications in a day plus its in a more strategic location. Watch out for it! :)
